How To Add a High Gain Antenna to your EVDO or GSM Modems |

I recommend you get a high Gain 10-12 DBi Panel antenna preferably with a water tight enclosure attached, if you can not get an antenna with a water proof compartment you can use any suitable waterproof enclosure and a Yaggi . The next step is a Power Over the Ethernet adapter, it is what will power you Wireless modem. The only wire going to your Antenna will be a water proof Ethernet cable up to 300 feet away. The advantage of designing your system this way is you can pick a high point on your house or place of business and connect the PC or Router 300’ away. OMNI antenna’s are NOT suitable for this. Below is a Mock up some parts laying around the house. A setup like this will run you about $800.00-$1000.00. If you are in a marginal coverage area this system will WORK. There are very few installation where an “Antenna Booster “ will work.

Yes the Modem (EVDO, EDGE, WiMax etc.) goes inside the water proof enclosure I recommend a high quality modem like Bluetree, Airlink or MultiTech Make sure you get polarity and voltage correct most are NEG ground 12 Volts |
Make sure you purchase a modem that supports Ethernet . << this connector will be plugged into the modem for power. |
